お雪ゆきは

針はりと布ぬのを

投なげ捨すてました。

（布ぬの：cloth）

（投なげ捨すてる：to fling down）

O-Yuki flung down her sewing,

そして

立たちあがりました。

and arose,

お雪ゆきは

みのきちのところに行いき

彼かれの上うえに、屈かがみました。

and bowed above Minokichi where he sat,

彼女かのじょは

彼かれに向むかって

叫さけびました──

（叫さけぶ：to shriek）

and shrieked into his face:

「それは私わたし

　私わたし

　それは私わたし。

　……それは雪ゆき。

"It was I - I - I! Yuki it was!

　……そして、その時とき

　私わたしは

　あなたに言いったの。……

　……もし、あなたが、そのことを、言いったら

　私わたしは、あなたを、殺ころす、と。

And I told you then that I would kill you if you ever said one word about it! . . .

　そこで、眠ねむっている子供こどもたちが

　いなかったら

　今いますぐ、あなたを殺ころしたのに……

　でも、もうできない。

But for those children asleep there, I would kill you this moment!

　あなたは、

　子供こどもたちを

　大事だいじに、大事だいじに、してください。

（大事だいじにする：to take good care）

And now you had better take very, very good care of them;

　もし子供こどもたちに何なにかあったら

　そのときは

　私わたしは、あなたを……」

for if ever they have reason to complain of you, I will treat you as you deserve!" . . .
